Dan Kamari, Namibia Airport Company’s spokesperson, said the work on the airport was aimed at elevating it to a global standard that can better facilitate baggage handling and extend terminal amenities for domestic, VIP, and VVIP flights. The ‘facelift’ includes the addition of 18 new check-in desks, five more self-service check-in kiosks, more departure security checkpoint stations, and improved baggage reclaim facilities.
The travel and tourism industry is slowly and cautiously reopening to international travel. This revamp is ideal for this reopening of international travel, as expansion is expected to double passenger capacity and accommodate increased passenger movements until 2030.
