Saudi Arabia’s government has removed South Africa from their banned list as of 8 September 2021.
To enter the Kingdom, South Africans will be expected to have a negative PCT test no older than 72 hours, in addition to being fully vaccinated at least 14 days before travel. Visitors will be required to download the Tawakkalna mobile application to verify their vaccination statuses in conjunction with their passport details. Proof of this could be requested prior to being allowed access to public areas – such as malls, shops, restaurants, etc.
Once in Saudi Arabia, travellers can expect stringent Covid-19 regulations and steep fines for faulting on any of the requirements. Fines can range from R3 800 to R380 000 and increases with repeated offending.
